Week 1: Introduction – Defining the Music Producer

My name is Yael Mouhamadou, and I produce music under the name Bwser, a playful twist on the iconic Bowser villain from Super Mario Bros. For around five years now, I’ve been using FL Studio to create beats, and in that time, I’ve fallen deeply in love with underground subgenres, especially the experimental and niche sounds that thrive on the internet. My music often blends dark, whimsical elements with influences from some of the latest trap subgenres, particularly the underground Plugg genre. This sound allows me to experiment freely and push creative boundaries, something that really excites me as an artist.

One of my biggest inspirations is Pi’erre Bourne, who played a major role in my decision to start making beats. His ability to blend smooth, melodic production with hard-hitting drums really struck a chord with me when I first heard his work. Pi’erre’s signature style—both futuristic and nostalgic—motivated me to dive deeper into the world of production, and I’ve spent the last few years refining my own sound with him as a guiding influence. Another producer who has left a massive mark on me is Metro Boomin. His legacy in shaping the trap sound and elevating the genre to mainstream heights is legendary. I admire how Metro’s work is not only sonically powerful but also has emotional depth, creating an atmosphere that draws listeners in.

As I continue to hone my craft, my goal is to polish my sound even further, constantly improving my mixes and mastering the technical aspects of production. I’m also eager to collaborate with more artists and producers, knowing that expanding my network will push me creatively and help me grow. Over the years, I want to evolve into a producer with a unique, recognizable sound while contributing to the underground music scene I love so much.
